Ai only sighed as the other moved closer. Afterlife would have been better if the setting was at an aquarium rather than an endless ocean. The boy did not particularly like the ocean, even though his system was water-proof. Though, strangely enough, he really liked going to aquarium. It was probably because of all the colourful aquatic creatures that inhabit the ocean.
However, seeing Aine, he was almost certain that he was not in the afterlife. If it really was an afterlife, he wouldn’t be encountering another person, since he wasn’t even human to start with. So where were they exactly.
“I don’t know.” He answered Aine, honestly as he looked around to see if there were any other figures there. None. “Perhaps, we are in some sort of ‘space’ that only we are able to access.” As crazy as it sounded, it was the only other logical hypothesis.
Then another question sparked his interest. What happened last night? Ai scrunched his brows together, trying to dig through his memory bank, only to be blocked by a firewall. All he managed to extract was a single scene. Lights. Impact. Red. Pink hair. Blue eyes. Then nothing. Pink hair and blue eyes… Ringo? He couldn’t quite understand what that scene meant, but he had a very unsettling feeling about it.
“I don’t really remember… But, we have to get out of here.” Where ever here was.
“A mind space…?” Aine stared at the other cyanette confused. “But why… why the ocean?”
The tealette looked down uneasily at the water, dread churning in his stomach. He completely knew he feared the water, or at least being under it. If he sank, he knew his hellish nightmare would begin again.
Choking… drowning… He was afraid this time he would never be able to wake up from his dream.
“We can’t stay here. The ocean…. it might take us, Mikaze,” he muttered quickly, heart beating fast. Aine didn’t realize his body was visibly shaking.
