Each step Aine took stabbed needles into the soles of his feet.
The footsteps he walked marked the soft sand in red footprints, trailing behind him.
Why was he walking? Where was he going?
He widened his eyes when he heard the sound of the beckoning ocean.

No, I can’t go in there! Stop!
Aine felt his body was under a spell, moving on his own and he moved closer to the seemingly peaceful waves, the seagulls crying out to the sunset.
No! No!
One step was a small splash and his mind shook, terrified at the engulfing water that pulled him in with each step. He heard four words came into his mind.
I want to die.

Aine almost screamed out of terror when he pulled himself up awake. A cold sweat broke all over his body and he shook. He hadn’t had a nightmare like this for weeks. Why had they returned?

Quietly, Aine looked over to see that his roommate Ren didn’t wake up from his nightly fit. The tealette got up from the bed and pulled on one of his jackets. He needed fresh air.
Silently, he moved out of his cabin and a fresh, exotic air hit his lungs. The place they were vacationing in was rather enjoyable. There was only one problem for him.
Aine stared out to the far away waves at the ocean.

No one knew he was afraid of the water.
Aine sighed to himself and sat down on a piece of grass near a palm tree. He clenched his fist in frustration.
It wasn’t his right to ruin everyone’s fun.
