How long had it been since he had left the world that was his reality? The waves washed over his bare ankles as he stood in the violet twilight the evening sunset had led to.

A silent wind rustled through his ocean-like hair as he gazed off into the dim moon that illuminated into the night sky.
It was serene and peaceful… yet nearly quiet. Only the sound of the ocean waves caressing the shore lulled over and over.
The cruel noisy reality he had left was for this neverending dream of peace yet nothingness.
A part of him had to admit though; it was rather lonely and sad to seclude himself this way. But… it was all for the sake of not being hurt by what he loved the most.
Even if he was never allowed to see those he held dear ever again for this neverending dream.
However, upon hearing those words, time froze as he did as well. The waves suddenly came to a stop as memories flooded back to a time when he lived his real dream.
“Aine, your singing is one-of-a-kind.”
“Aine, I want you to be the only one to sing my song.”
“Aine! Let’s sing together!”
“Aine… I want to hear you sing.”
The tears that started to fall down his cheeks would not stop. The dreamer knew that he shouldn’t dwell over this so much that it would end up hurting him again… But these weren’t tears of pain and regret. Those words that the stranger told him, reminded him of something that he forgot was truly important to him.

“I… I always wanted to hear those words again… Thank you… Thank you.”
And a soft, gentle melody breezed through the ocean air in the quiet dusk; and he sang not only for himself, but for the ones who still waited for his return.
